As a driver, there is one thing that I can attest to (and I am doing so in the lawsuit)…Uber is stealing from me, and most likely from other drivers also. I have caught them shaving time and miles. For those in California, Uber is required by law to reimburse drivers for mileage. The 2025 rate is $.35 per mile. (note that the IRS has calculated the mileage deduction at $.70. This includes, fuel, insurance, maintenance, depreciation, etc. Uber is getting over.) See below for one of many expamples of Uber shaving miles. Please note: The address has been blocked for the privacy of the passenger. THIS HAPPENS ON EVERY RIDE THAT I HAVE TRACKED!
This is a recent ride, and is not the worst example. Some rides I have been shorted around 15%.
Google Maps and my Odometer say 13.5 miles.
Uber says 12.05 miles.
Color me SHOCKED!
Small potatoes you might say?
Multiply this by the over 1300 rides that I have completed over the past 14 months or so.
Multiply this by the thousands upon thousands of drivers in California.
Can you say Class Action?
Maybe even criminal charges?
